P2) Plan a Photographic Shoot
Planning a Photographic Shoot
A) Specific Media Product Photos will be used for.
For my Initial idea, i want to make advertising fashion photography for companies. Here are some examples of the designs that inspired me. Mostly, it is a lot of headsite banners and lookbooks. I love this style of photography, where we have high quality pictures in great settings advertising new clothing in a much more exciting way that when we see the clothing on an online store.
In particular, this Dickies 2018 lookbook has inspired me massively. https://www.dickieslife.com/en/blog/ss18range
Because of this, my idea is to make my own online lookbook. This will be a selection of branding, but my photos will range across the brands but focus on the important side of the advertising, the clarity and style that these photos posses.
B) Theme of Shoot
I am going to do a variation of shoots for my Lookbook, to gain a great understanding of streetwear and the uprising it is currently having in society. Because of this, i want to have a Urban vs Rural theme to run through my shoot. I personally think streetwear is an important part of young people's society currently, and despite the price i think it is worn and bought by multiple types of people from all kinds of areas. It is constantly stereotyped into being a big city Urban style of culture, and I wish to integrate this into my lookbook as i think to a certain extent this is true. However, i want to counter and extend the ideas behind this by breaking this urban stereotype and use some more rural scenery.
Here are some examples of what i mean when i describe 'Urban Style Streetwear Photography'
Here are also some examples of some more rural style of locations, but still have the same effect and passion behind the photos.
C) Relevant Equipment Props and Costume.
There will be a variation of props and costumes required depending on the style of my shoots. However something that will remain the same throughout the process will be the equipment i use. Firstly, i have decided i will not use a tripod. I like the more natural feeling behind a photo, a tripod because too steady and too precise which i think loses the beauty behind a photo and the individuality between each one. My Photos will be shot on two camera's, my DSLR Nikon D3200 digital camera that will get a clearer style of photo and i can play with settings and depth stronger. I will then also use my Fujifilm Epion 1010 MRC film camera, which gives an old school natural effect that can often look beautiful in streetwear shoots. By having the choice of the two cameras i can get a variation of photographic styles depending on my shoot, focusing on the beauty of the nature and the natural oldschool style of photography on film, or a crisper boldly focused DSLR shot. This equipment will add a lot of individuality and creativity to my small lookbook.
Props will not be important in my shoots. The focus is on the outfits and the location and therefor i do not deem it necessary to add any complications to the photo to reduce the influence and attention of the lookbook. I plan on using the same outfits in both my urban and rural locations to have a contrast of location while still having the similarity of the outfits to send a message that outfits are multipurpose and can be worn in lots of different environments.
I will be using predominantly three brands during my shoot - Supreme, Places and Faces and Stussy. This is because they are three extremely popular and versatile brands in streetwear that are currently destroying and booming the competition. They also have a vast range of designs in their clothing that can be easily manipulated for my shoots. Here are some photos of the items I will be using.
